Maxine Harmon

Maxine began studying dance at age 3 under the direction of Carole Jordan. Her love of tap was fostered by Rhonda Cook ,Tina Rae Kelly, Carole Jordan and Danielle Drouin. From 2006 to the present she has attended Portsmouth Percussive Dance Festival, the Woodshed Professional Tap Residency, and participated in numerous master classes and conventions. She has studied with Josh Hilberman, Drika Overton, Brenda Bufalino, Shea Sullivan, Derik Grant, Nicholas Van Young, Lisa Latouche and Jason Rodgers. During a brief hiatus from dance between 2007-2011 she turned her focus towards the visual arts, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Maine College of Art. Some of her studies included color theory and the influence of light in art, both of which she feels are important considerations in the performing arts. Her choreography is inspired by the people she meets, and new music she comes across. Whether it is Jazz with Duke Ellington, Motown with the Jackson 5, Funk with Cory Wong, or Pop with Whitney Houston, Max believes tap can compliment any musical composition, you just have to find the groove
